Pesach
3 - Passover 3 (Matzot 3 - Third Day of Unleavened Bread).
Exodus 13:1-16, Numbers 28:19-25, Ezekiel 37:1-14.
Exodus
13:1-16.
1 . The Firstborn
Consecrated. .
YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Sanctify to me all of the firstborn,
whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of
animal. It is mine.”
3 . The Feast of Unleavened Bread. .
Moses said to the people,
“Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of
bondage; for by strength of hand YHWH brought you out from this place. No
leavened bread shall be eaten.
4 This day you go out in the month Abib.
5 It shall be, when YHWH shall bring you into
the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite,
and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing
with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.
6 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread,
and in the seventh day shall be a feast to YHWH!
7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout
the seven days; and no leavened bread shall be seen with you, neither shall
there be yeast seen with you, in all your borders.
8 You shall tell your son in that day, saying,
‘It is because of that which YHWH did for me when I came out of Egypt.’
9 It shall be for a sign to you on your hand,
and for a memorial between your eyes, that the Torah (teaching and instruction)
of YHWH may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand YHWH has brought you out
of Egypt.
10 You shall therefore keep this ordinance in
its season from year to year.
11 . The Teaching and Instruction of the
Firstborn. .
“It shall be, when YHWH shall
bring you into the land of the Canaanite, as he swore to you and to your
fathers, and shall give it you,
12 that you shall set apart to YHWH all that
opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal.
The males shall be YHWH’s.
13 Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem
with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and
you shall redeem all the firstborn of man among your sons.
14 It shall be, when your son asks you in time
to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall tell him, ‘By strength of hand
YHWH brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage;
15 and it happened, when Pharaoh would hardly
let us go, that YHWH killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the
firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to YHWH
all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I
redeem.’
16 It shall be for a sign on your hand, and for
symbols between your eyes: for by strength of hand YHWH brought us out of
Egypt.”
Numbers
28:19-25.
19 but you shall offer an offering
made by fire, a burnt offering to YHWH: two young bulls, and one ram, and seven
male lambs a year old; they shall be to you without blemish;
20 and their meal offering, fine flour mixed
with oil: you shall offer three tenth parts for a bull, and two tenth parts for
the ram.
21 You shall offer a tenth part for every lamb
of the seven lambs;
22 and one male goat for a sin offering, to
make atonement for you.
23 You shall offer these besides the burnt
offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.
24 In this way you shall offer daily, for seven
days, the food of the offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to YHWH: it
shall be offered besides the continual burnt offering, and the drink offering
of it.
25 On the seventh day you shall have a holy
convocation: you shall do no servile work.
Ezekiel
37:1-14.
1 . The Dry Bones Live. .
The hand of YHWH was on me, and he
brought me out in the Spirit of YHWH, and set me down in the midst of the
valley; and it was full of bones.
2 He caused me to pass by them all around: and
behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very
dry.
3 He said to me, Son of man, can these bones
live? I answered, ADONAI YHWH, you know.
4 Again he said to me, Prophesy over these
bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear the word of YHWH!
5 Thus says ADONAI YHWH to these bones: Behold,
I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.
6 I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up
flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall
live; and you shall know that I am YHWH!
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I
prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, an earthquake; and the bones came
together, bone to its bone.
8 I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on
them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath
in them.
9 Then he said to me, Prophesy to the wind,
prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says ADONAI YHWH: Come from the
four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the
breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an
exceedingly great army.
11 Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones
are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and
our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.
12 Therefore prophesy, and tell them, Thus says
ADONAI YHWH: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of
your graves, my people; and I will bring you into Eretz-Israel.
13 You shall know that I am YHWH, when I have
opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people.
14 I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall
live, and I will place you in your own land: and you shall know that I, YHWH,
have spoken it and performed it, says YHWH!
