Sunday - Day 1 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

Leviticus 9.

Leviticus 9.

1 . The Priestly Ministry Begins. .

It happened on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;
2 and he said to Aaron, “Take a calf from the herd for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before YHWH!
3 You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both a year old, without blemish, for a burnt offering;
4 and a bull and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before YHWH; and a meal offering mixed with oil: for today YHWH appears to you.’”
5 They brought what Moses commanded before the Tent of Meeting: and all the congregation drew near and stood before YHWH!
6 Moses said, “This is the thing which YHWH commanded that you should do: and the glory of YHWH shall appear to you.”
7 Moses said to Aaron, “Draw near to the altar, and offer your sin offering, and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself, and for the people; and offer the offering of the people, and make atonement for them; as YHWH commanded.”
8 So Aaron drew near to the altar, and killed the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself.
9 The sons of Aaron presented the blood to him; and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it on the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar:
10 but the fat, and the kidneys, and the cover from the liver of the sin offering, he burned upon the altar; as YHWH commanded Moses.
11 The flesh and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.
12 He killed the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons delivered the blood to him, and he sprinkled it around on the altar.
13 They delivered the burnt offering to him, piece by piece, and the head: and he burned them upon the altar.
14 He washed the innards and the legs, and burned them on the burnt offering on the altar.
15 He presented the people’s offering, and took the goat of the sin offering which was for the people, and killed it, and offered it for sin, like the first.
16 He presented the burnt offering, and offered it according to the ordinance.
17 He presented the meal offering, and filled his hand from there, and burned it upon the altar, besides the burnt offering of the morning.
18 He also killed the bull and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron’s sons delivered to him the blood, which he sprinkled around on the altar,
19 and the fat of the bull and of the ram, the fat tail, and that which covers the innards, and the kidneys, and the cover of the liver:
20 and they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burned the fat on the altar:
21 and the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved for a wave offering before YHWH, as Moses commanded.
22 Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.
23 Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of YHWH appeared to all the people.
24 There came forth fire from before YHWH, and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar: and when all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

Monday - Day 2 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

Leviticus 10,   2 Corinthians 6.

Leviticus 10.

1 . The Profane Fire of Nadab and Abihu. .

Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before YHWH, which he had not commanded them.
2 And fire came forth from before YHWH, and devoured them, and they died before YHWH!
3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what YHWH spoke of, saying,  ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me,  and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.
4 Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”
5 So they drew near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.
6 Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, neither tear your clothes; that you don’t die, and that he not be angry with all the congregation: but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which YHWH has kindled.
7 You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die; for the anointing oil of YHWH is on you.” They did according to the word of Moses.

8 . Conduct Prescribed for Priests. .

YHWH spoke to Aaron, saying,
9 “Drink no wine nor strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the Tent of Meeting, that you don’t die: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations:
10 and that you are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;
11 and that you are to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which YHWH has spoken to them by Moses.”
12 Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of YHWH made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy;
13 and you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your portion, and your sons’ portion, of the offerings of YHWH made by fire: for so I am commanded.
14 The waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel.
15 The heaved thigh and the waved breast they shall bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before YHWH: and it shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a portion forever; as YHWH has commanded.”
16 Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned: and he was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying,
17 “Why haven’t you eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, since it is most holy, and he has given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before YHWH?
18 Behold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary: you certainly should have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”
19 Aaron spoke to Moses, “Behold, this day they have offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before YHWH; and such things as these have happened to me: and if I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been pleasing in the sight of YHWH?”
20 When Moses heard that, it was pleasing in his sight.

2 Corinthians 6.

1 . Marks of the Ministry. .

Working together, we entreat also that you not receive the grace of ELOHIM in vain,
2 for he says,  “At an acceptable time I listened to you,  in a day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation.
3 We give no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service may not be blamed,
4 but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of ELOHIM, in great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,
5 in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;
6 in pureness, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love,
7 in the word of truth, in the power of ELOHIM; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
8 by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;
9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and not killed;
10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

11 . Be Holy. .

Our mouth is open to you, Corinthians. Our heart is enlarged.
12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.
13 Now in return, I speak as to my children, you also be open wide.
14 Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
15 What agreement has Messiah with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?
16 What agreement has a temple of ELOHIM with idols? For you are a temple of the living ELOHIM! Even as ELOHIM said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their ELOHIM, and they will be my people.”
17 Therefore,  “‘Come out from among them,  and be separate,’ says ADONAI.  ‘Touch no unclean thing.  I will receive you.
18 I will be to you a Father.  You will be to me sons and daughters,’ says ADONAI Almighty.”

Tuesday - Day 3 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

Leviticus 11:1-47,   2 Corinthians 7.

Shemini (continued):

Leviticus 11:1-47.

1 . Foods Permitted and Forbidden. .

YHWH spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth.
3 Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat.
4 “‘Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because he chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.
5 The coney, because he chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.
6 The hare, because she chews the cud but doesn’t part the hoof, she is unclean to you.
7 The pig, because he has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn’t chew the cud, he is unclean to you.
8 Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.
9 “‘These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat.
10 All that don’t have fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you,
11 and you detest them. You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.
12 Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination to you.
13 “‘These you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the vulture, and the black vulture,
14 and the red kite, any kind of black kite,
15 any kind of raven,
16 the horned owl, the screech owl, and the gull, any kind of hawk,
17 the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl,
18 the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,
19 the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat.
20 “‘All flying insects that walk on all fours are an abomination to you.
21 Yet you may eat these: of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have legs above their feet, with which to hop on the earth.
22 Even of these you may eat: any kind of locust, any kind of katydid, any kind of cricket, and any kind of grasshopper.
23 But all winged creeping things which have four feet, are an abomination to you.

24 . Unclean Animals. .

“‘By these you will become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
25 Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
26 “‘Every animal which parts the hoof, and is not cloven-footed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.
27 Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
28 He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you.
29 “‘These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard,
30 the gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.
31 These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the evening.
32 On whatever any of them falls when they are dead, it shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it will be clean.
33 Every earthen vessel, into which any of them falls, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.
34 All food which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
35 Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.
36 Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is a gathered shall be clean: but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.
37 If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.
38 But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.
39 “‘If any animal, of which you may eat, dies; he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
40 He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
41 “‘Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth is an abomination. It shall not be eaten.
42 Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination.
43 You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps, neither shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled thereby.
44 For I am YHWH your ELOHIM! Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any kind of creeping thing that moves on the earth.
45 For I am YHWH who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your ELOHIM! You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46 “‘This is the Torah-instruction of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,
47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.’”

2 Corinthians 7.

1 Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of ELOHIM!

2 . The Corinthians' Repentance . .

Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one.
3 I say this not to condemn you, for I have said before, that you are in our hearts to die together and live together.
4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction.
5 For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside.
6 Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, ELOHIM, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
7 and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, while he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced still more.
8 For though I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you sorry, though just for a while.
9 I now rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you were made sorry to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death.
11 For behold, this same thing, that you were made sorry in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vengeance! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.
12 So although I wrote to you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be revealed in you in the sight of ELOHIM!

13 . The Joy of Titus. .

Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.
14 For if in anything I have boasted to him on your behalf, I was not disappointed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth.
15 His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.
16 I rejoice that in everything I am confident concerning you.

Wednesday - Day 4 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

2 Samuel 6:1-19,   2 Corinthians 8.

2 Samuel 6:1-19.

1 . The Ark Brought to Jerusalem. .

David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
2 David arose, and went with all the people who were with him, from Baale Judah, to bring up from there the ark of ELOHIM, which is called by the Name, even the name of YHWH of Hosts who sits above the cherubim.
3 They set the ark of ELOHIM on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in the hill: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.
4 They brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in the hill, with the ark of ELOHIM: and Ahio went before the ark.
5 David and all the house of Israel played before YHWH with all kinds of instruments made of fir wood, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with castanets, and with cymbals.
6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached for the ark of ELOHIM, and took hold of it; for the cattle stumbled.
7 The anger of YHWH was kindled against Uzzah; and ELOHIM struck him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of ELOHIM!
8 David was displeased, because YHWH had broken forth on Uzzah; and he called that place Perez Uzzah, to this day.
9 David was afraid of YHWH that day; and he said, “How shall the ark of YHWH come to me?”
10 So David would not move the ark of YHWH to be with him in the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
11 The ark of YHWH remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months: and YHWH blessed Obed-Edom, and all his house.
12 It was told king David, saying, “YHWH has blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of ELOHIM!” David went and brought up the ark of ELOHIM from the house of Obed-Edom into the city of David with joy.
13 It was so, that, when those who bore the ark of YHWH had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.
14 David danced before YHWH with all his might; and David was clothed in a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of YHWH with shouting, and with the sound of the shofar.
16 It was so, as the ark of YHWH came into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before YHWH; and she despised him in her heart.
17 They brought in the ark of YHWH, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before YHWH!
18 When David had made an end of offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of YHWH of Hosts.
19 He gave to all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to everyone a portion of bread, dates, and raisins. So all the people departed everyone to his house.

2 Corinthians 8.

1 . Excel in Giving. .

Moreover, brothers, we make known to you the grace of ELOHIM which has been given in the assemblies of Macedonia;
2 how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.
3 For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,
4 begging us with much entreaty to receive this grace and the fellowship in the service to the holy ones.
5 This was not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to ADONAI, and to us through the will of ELOHIM!
6 So we urged Titus, that as he made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace.
7 But as you abound in everything, in faith, utterance, knowledge, all earnestness, and in your love to us, see that you also abound in this grace.

8 . Messiah Our Pattern. .

I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.
9 For you know the grace of our ADONAI YESHUA the Messiah, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.
10 I give a judgment in this: for this is expedient for you, who were the first to start a year ago, not only to do, but also to be willing.
11 But now complete the doing also, that as there was the readiness to be willing, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.
12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have.
13 For this is not that others may be eased and you distressed,
14 but for equality. Your abundance at this present time supplies their lack, that their abundance also may become a supply for your lack; that there may be equality.
15 As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

16 . Collection for the Judean Holy Persons. .

But thanks be to ELOHIM, who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.
17 For he indeed accepted our exhortation, but being himself very earnest, he went out to you of his own accord.
18 We have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the Good News is known through all the assemblies.
19 Not only so, but who was also appointed by the assemblies to travel with us in this grace, which is served by us to the glory of ADONAI himself, and to show our readiness.
20 We are avoiding this, that any man should blame us concerning this abundance which is administered by us.
21 Having regard for honorable things, not only in the sight of ADONAI, but also in the sight of men.
22 We have sent with them our brother, whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he has in you.
23 As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker for you. As for our brothers, they are the emissaries of the assemblies, the glory of Messiah.
24 Therefore show the proof of your love to them in front of the assemblies, and of our boasting on your behalf.

Thursday - Day 5 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

2 Corinthians 9.

2 Corinthians 9.

1 . Administering the Gift. .

It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the holy ones,
2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for a year past. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them.
3 But I have sent the brothers that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared,
4 so that I won’t by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) should be disappointed in this confident boasting.
5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you, and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness.

6 . The Cheerful Giver. .

Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7 Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for ELOHIM loves a cheerful giver.
8 And ELOHIM is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
9 As it is written,  “He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor.  His righteousness remains forever.”
10 Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;
11 you being enriched in everything to all liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to ELOHIM!
12 For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the holy ones, but abounds also through many givings of thanks to ELOHIM;
13 seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify ELOHIM for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Messiah, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all;
14 while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of ELOHIM in you.
15 Now thanks be to ELOHIM for his unspeakable gift!

Friday - Day 6 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

2 Corinthians 10,   2 Corinthians 11.

2 Corinthians 10.

1 . The Spiritual War. .

Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Messiah; I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.
2 Yes, I beg you that I may not, when present, show courage with the confidence with which I intend to be bold against some, who consider us to be walking according to the flesh.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh;
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before ELOHIM to the throwing down of strongholds,
5 throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of ELOHIM, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Messiah;
6 and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience will be made full.

7 . Reality of Paul's Authority. .

Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If anyone trusts in himself that he is Messiah’s, let him consider this again with himself, that, even as he is Messiah’s, so also we are Messiah’s.
8 For though I should boast somewhat abundantly concerning our authority, (which ADONAI gave for building you up, and not for casting you down) I will not be disappointed,
9 that I may not seem as if I desire to terrify you by my letters.
10 For, “His letters,” they say, “are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised.”
11 Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such are we also in deed when we are present.

12 . Limits of Paul's Authority. .

For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.
13 But we will not boast beyond proper limits, but within the boundaries with which ELOHIM appointed to us, which reach even to you.
14 For we don’t stretch ourselves too much, as though we didn’t reach to you. For we came even as far as to you with the Good News of Messiah,
15 not boasting beyond proper limits in other men’s labors, but having hope that as your faith grows, we will be abundantly enlarged by you in our sphere of influence,
16 so as to proclaim the Good News even to the parts beyond you, not to boast in what someone else has already done.
17 But “he who boasts, let him boast in ADONAI.”
18 For it isn’t he who commends himself who is approved, but whom ADONAI commends.

2 Corinthians 11.

1 . Concern for Their Faithfulness. .

I wish that you would bear with me in a little foolishness, but indeed you do bear with me.
2 For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy. For I married you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Messiah.
3 But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Havah in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Messiah.
4 For if he who comes preaches another YESHUA, whom we did not proclaim, or if you receive a different spirit, which you did not receive, or a different “good news”, which you did not accept, you put up with that well enough.

5 . Paul and False Apostles. .

For I reckon that I am not at all behind the very best emissaries.
6 But though I am unskilled in speech, yet I am not unskilled in knowledge. No, in every way we have been revealed to you in all things.
7 Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached to you ELOHIM’s Good News free of charge?
8 I robbed other assemblies, taking wages from them that I might serve you.
9 When I was present with you and was in need, I wasn’t a burden on anyone, for the brothers, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my need. In everything I kept myself from being burdensome to you, and I will continue to do so.
10 As the truth of Messiah is in me, no one will stop me from this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
11 Why? Because I don’t love you? ELOHIM knows.
12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them that desire an occasion, that in which they boast, they may be found even as we.
13 For such men are false emissaries, deceitful workers, masquerading as Messiah’s emissaries.
14 And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.
15 It is no great thing therefore if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

16 . Reluctant Boasting. .

I say again, let no one think me foolish. But if so, yet receive me as foolish, that I also may boast a little.
17 That which I speak, I don’t speak according to ADONAI, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting.
18 Seeing that many boast after the flesh, I will also boast.
19 For you bear with the foolish gladly, being wise.
20 For you bear with a man, if he brings you into bondage, if he devours you, if he takes you captive, if he exalts himself, if he strikes you on the face.
21 I speak by way of disparagement, as though we had been weak. Yet however any is bold (I speak in foolishness), I am bold also.

22 . Suffering for Messiah. .

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.
23 Are they servants of Messiah? (I speak as one beside himself) I am more so; in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in deaths often.
24 Five times from the Jews I received forty stripes minus one.
25 Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I suffered shipwreck. I have been a night and a day in the deep.
26 I have been in travels often, perils of rivers, perils of robbers, perils from my countrymen, perils from the Gentiles, perils in the city, perils in the wilderness, perils in the sea, perils among false brothers;
27 in labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, and in cold and nakedness.
28 Besides those things that are outside, there is that which presses on me daily, anxiety for all the assemblies.
29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is caused to stumble, and I don’t burn with indignation?
30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that concern my weakness.
31 The ELOHIM and Father of ADONAI YESHUA the Messiah, he who is blessed forevermore, knows that I don’t lie.
32 In Damascus the governor under King Aretas guarded the city of the Damascenes desiring to arrest me.
33 Through a window I was let down in a basket by the wall, and escaped his hands.

Saturday - Shabbat - Parasha Shemini - Eighth.

2 Corinthians 12,   2 Corinthians 13.

2 Corinthians 12.

1 . The Vision of Paradise. .

It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of ADONAI.
2 I know a man in Messiah, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I don’t know, or whether out of the body, I don’t know; ELOHIM knows), such a one caught up into the third heaven.
3 I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I don’t know; ELOHIM knows),
4 how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not legal for a man to utter.
5 On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses.
6 For if I would desire to boast, I will not be foolish; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, so that no man may think more of me than that which he sees in me, or hears from me.

7 . The Thorn in the Flesh. .

By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.
8 Concerning this thing, I begged ADONAI three times that it might depart from me.
9 He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Messiah may rest on me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Messiah’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.

11 . Signs of an Apostle. .

I have become foolish in boasting. You compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you, for in nothing was I inferior to the very best emissaries, though I am nothing.
12 Truly the signs of an emissary were worked among you in all patience, in signs and wonders and mighty works.
13 For what is there in which you were made inferior to the rest of the assemblies, unless it is that I myself was not a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong.

14 . Love for the Assembly. .

Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I seek not your possessions, but you. For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
15 I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less?
16 But be it so, I did not myself burden you. But, being crafty, I caught you with deception.
17 Did I take advantage of you by anyone of them whom I have sent to you?
18 I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of you? Didn’t we walk in the same spirit? Didn’t we walk in the same steps?
19 Again, do you think that we are excusing ourselves to you? In the sight of ELOHIM we speak in Messiah. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying.
20 For I am afraid that by any means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don’t desire; that by any means there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, riots;
21 that again when I come my ELOHIM would humble me before you, and I would mourn for many of those who have sinned before now, and not repented of the uncleanness and sexual immorality and lustfulness which they committed.

2 Corinthians 13.

1 . Coming with Authority. .

This is the third time I am coming to you. “At the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.”
2 I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, I write to those who have sinned before now, and to all the rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare;
3 seeing that you seek a proof of Messiah who speaks in me; who toward you is not weak, but is powerful in you.
4 For he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives through the power of ELOHIM! For we also are weak in him, but we will live with him through the power of ELOHIM toward you.
5 Test your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know as to your own selves, that YESHUA the Messiah is in you? unless indeed you are disqualified.
6 But I hope that you will know that we aren’t disqualified.

7 . Paul Prefers Gentleness. .

Now I pray to ELOHIM that you do no evil; not that we may appear approved, but that you may do that which is honorable, though we are as reprobate.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9 For we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong. And this we also pray for, even your perfecting.
10 For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not deal sharply when present, according to the authority which ADONAI gave me for building up, and not for tearing down.

11 . Greetings and Benediction. .

Finally, brothers, rejoice. Be perfected, be comforted, be of the same mind, live in peace, and the ELOHIM of love and peace will be with you.
12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
13 All the holy ones greet you.
14 The grace of ADONAI YESHUA the Messiah, the love of ELOHIM, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen.
