1 (Pentecost 1):
Exodus
19.,20.
1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Israel at Mount Sinai. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
In the third month after the
children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they
came into the wilderness of Sinai.
2 When they had departed from Rephidim, and had
come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there
Israel encamped before the mountain.
3 Moses went up to ELOHIM, and YHWH called to
him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of
Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians,
and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my
voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all
peoples; for all the earth is mine;
6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests,
and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children
of Israel.”
7 Moses came and called for the elders of the
people, and set before them all these words which YHWH commanded him.
8 All the people answered together, and said,
“All that YHWH has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people
to YHWH!
9 YHWH said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in
a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also
believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to YHWH!
10 YHWH said to Moses, “Go to the people, and
sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,
11 and be ready against the third day; for on
the third day YHWH will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount
Sinai.
12 You shall set bounds to the people all
around, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch
its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.
13 No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely
be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’
When the shofar sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”
14 Moses went down from the mountain to the
people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15 He said to the people, “Be ready by the
third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”
16 It happened on the third day, when it was
morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the
mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud shofar; and all the people who
were in the camp trembled.
17 Moses led the people out of the camp to meet
ELOHIM; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.
18 Mount Sinai, all it, smoked, because YHWH
descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace,
and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
19 When the sound of the shofar grew louder and
louder, Moses spoke, and ELOHIM answered him by a voice.
20 YHWH came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of
the mountain. YHWH called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
21 YHWH said to Moses, “Go down, warn the
people, lest they break through to YHWH to gaze, and many of them perish.
22 Let the priests also, who come near to YHWH,
sanctify themselves, lest YHWH break forth on them.”
23 Moses said to YHWH, “The people can’t come
up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain,
and sanctify it.’”
24 YHWH said to him, “Go down and you shall
bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through
to come up to YHWH, lest he break forth on them.”
25 So Moses went down to the people, and told
them.

ELOHIM spoke all these words,
saying,
2 “I am YHWH your ELOHIM, who brought you out
of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourselves an idol,
nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor
serve them, for I, YHWH your ELOHIM, am a jealous ELOHIM, visiting the iniquity
of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of
those who hate me,
6 and showing loving kindness to thousands of
those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of YHWH your
ELOHIM in vain, for YHWH will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in
vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 You shall labor six days, and do all your
work,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to YHWH
your ELOHIM! You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your
daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor
your stranger who is within your gates;
11 for in six days YHWH made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore YHWH
blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that
your days may be long in the land which YHWH your ELOHIM gives you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not give false testimony against
your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female
servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
18 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The People Afraid of ELOHIM's
Presence. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
All the people perceived the
thunderings, the lightnings, the sound of the shofar, and the mountain smoking.
When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.
19 They said to Moses, “Speak with us yourself,
and we will listen; but don’t let ELOHIM speak with us, lest we die.”
20 Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid,
for ELOHIM has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you
won’t sin.”
21 The people stayed at a distance, and Moses
drew near to the thick darkness where ELOHIM was.
22 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Teaching and Instruction of
the Altar. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
YHWH said to Moses, “This is what
you shall tell the children of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen that I have
talked with you from heaven.
23 You shall most certainly not make alongside
of me gods of silver, or gods of gold for yourselves.
24 You shall make an altar of earth
for me, and shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace
offerings, your sheep and your cattle. In every place where I record my name I
will come to you and I will bless you.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, you shall
not build it of cut stones; for if you lift up your tool on it, you have
polluted it.
26 Neither shall you go up by steps to my
altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed to it.’
Numbers
28:26-31.
26 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Offerings at the Feast of Weeks.
.\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
“‘Also in the day of the first
fruits, when you offer a new meal offering to YHWH in your feast of weeks, you
shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no servile work;
27 but you shall offer a burnt offering for a
pleasant aroma to YHWH: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old;
28 and their meal offering, fine flour mixed
with oil, three tenth parts for each bull, two tenth parts for the one ram,
29 a tenth part for every lamb of the seven
lambs;
30 one male goat, to make atonement for you.
31 Besides the continual burnt offering, and
the meal offering of it, you shall offer them (they shall be to you without
blemish), and their drink offerings.
Ezekiel
1:1-28,3:12.
1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Ezekiel's Vision of ELOHIM. .
Ezekiel! \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
Now it happened in the thirtieth
year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the
captives by the river Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions
of ELOHIM!
2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the
fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity,
3 the word of YHWH came expressly to Ezekiel
the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Kasdim by the river Chebar; and
the hand of YHWH was there on him.
4 I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out
of the north, a great cloud, with flashing lightning, and a brightness around
it, and out of its midst as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the
fire.
5 Out of its midst came the likeness of four
living creatures. This was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.
6 Everyone had four faces, and each one of them
had four wings.
7 Their feet were straight feet; and the sole
of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like
burnished brass.
8 They had the hands of a man under their wings
on their four sides; and the four of them had their faces and their wings thus:
9 their wings were joined one to another; they
didn’t turn when they went; each one went straight forward.
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they had
the face of a man; and the four of them had the face of a lion on the right
side; and the four of them had the face of an ox on the left side; the four of
them also had the face of an eagle.
11 Such were their faces. Their wings were
spread out above. Two wings of each one touched another, and two covered their
bodies.
12 Each one went straight forward: where the
spirit was to go, they went; they didn’t turn when they went.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures,
their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of
torches: the fire went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was
bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
14 The living creatures ran and returned as the
appearance of a flash of lightning.
15 Now as I saw the living creatures, behold,
one wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, for each of the four faces
of it.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work
was like a beryl: and the four of them had one likeness; and their appearance
and their work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.
17 When they went, they went in their four
directions: they didn’t turn when they went.
18 As for their rims, they were high and
dreadful; and the four of them had their rims full of eyes all around.
19 When the living creatures went, the wheels
went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth,
the wheels were lifted up.
20 Wherever the spirit was to go, they went;
there was the spirit to go: and the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the
spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
21 When those went, these went; and when those
stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels
were lifted up beside them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the
wheels.
22 Over the head of the living creature there
was the likeness of an expanse, like the awesome crystal to look on, stretched
forth over their heads above.
23 Under the expanse were their wings straight,
the one toward the other: each one had two which covered on this side, and
every one had two which covered on that side, their bodies.
24 When they went, I heard the noise of their
wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise
of tumult like the noise of an army: when they stood, they let down their
wings.
25 There was a voice above the expanse that was
over their heads: when they stood, they let down their wings.
26 Above the expanse that was over their heads
was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and on the
likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man on it above.
27 I saw as it were glowing metal, as the
appearance of fire within it all around, from the appearance of his waist and
upward; and from the appearance of his waist and downward I saw as it were the
appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him.
28 As the appearance of the rainbow that is in
the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all
around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of YHWH! When I
saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.
12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and
I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of
YHWH from his place.
Acts
2:1-21,2:37-41.
1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Coming of the Holy Spirit. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
Now when the day of Shavuot had
come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like
the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting.
3 Tongues like fire appeared and were
distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.
4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit,
and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to
speak.
5 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Crowd's Response. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
Now there were dwelling in
Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky.
6 When this sound was heard, the multitude came
together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own
language.
7 They were all amazed and marveled, saying to
one another, “Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans?
8 How do we hear, everyone in our own native language?
9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from
Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia,
10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of
Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking
in our languages the mighty works of ELOHIM!”
12 They were all amazed, and were perplexed,
saying one to another, “What does this mean?”
13 Others, mocking, said, “They are filled with
new wine.”
14 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Peter's Sermon. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
But Peter, standing up with the
Eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them, “You men of Judea, and all
you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these aren’t drunken, as you suppose,
seeing it is only the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what has been spoken through the
prophet Joel:
17 ‘It will be in the last days, says
ELOHIM, that I will pour out my Spirit
on all flesh. Your sons and your
daughters will prophesy. Your young men
will see visions. Your old men will
dream dreams.
18 Yes, and on my servants and on my
handmaidens in those days, I will pour
out my Spirit, and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of ADONAI
comes.
21 It will be, that whoever will call on the
name of ADONAI will be saved.’
37 Now when they heard this, they
were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the emissaries,
“Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and be
immersed, every one of you, in the name of YESHUA the Messiah for the
forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is to you, and to your
children, and to all who are far off, even as many as ADONAI our ELOHIM will
call to himself.”
40 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. A Vital Assembly Grows. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\
With many other words he
testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked
generation!”
41 Then those who gladly received his word were
immersed. There were added that day about three thousand souls.

Let your loving kindness also come
to me, YHWH, your salvation, according
to your word.
42 So I will have an answer for him who
reproaches me, for I trust in your
word.
43 Don’t snatch the word of truth out of my
mouth, for I put my hope in your
ordinances.
44 So I will obey your Torah continually, forever and ever.
45 I will walk in liberty, for I have sought your precepts.
46 I will also speak of your statutes before
kings, and will not be disappointed.
47 I will delight myself in your
commandments, because I love them.
48 I reach out my hands for your commandments,
which I love. I will meditate on your

The festival of Shavuot (or Shavuos, in Ashkenazi usage; Shabhuʿoth in
Classical and Mizrahi Hebrew Hebrew: שבועות, lit. "Weeks") is a Jewish
holiday that occurs on the sixth day of the Hebrew month of Sivan (late May or
early June). Shavuot commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah
to the entire Israelite nation assembled at Mount Sinai, although the
association between the giving of the Torah (Matan Torah) and Shavuot is not
explicit in the Biblical text. The holiday is one of the Shalosh Regalim, the
three Biblical pilgrimage festivals. It marks the conclusion of the Counting of
the Omer.
