Sunday - Day 1 before Shabbat -  Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

Numbers 16.

Korach:

Numbers 16.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Rebellion Against Moses and Aaron. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
2 and they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred fifty princes of the congregation, called to the assembly, men of renown;
3 and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much on yourself, since all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and YHWH is among them: why then lift yourselves up above the assembly of YHWH?”
4 When Moses heard it, he fell on his face:
5 and he spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying, “In the morning YHWH will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to him: even him whom he shall choose he will cause to come near to him.
6 Do this: take censers, Korah, and all his company;
7 and put fire in them, and put incense on them before YHWH tomorrow: and it shall be that the man whom YHWH chooses, he shall be holy. You have gone too far, you sons of Levi!”
8 Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi!
9 Is it a small thing to you, that the ELOHIM of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of YHWH, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;
10 and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? and do you seek the priesthood also?
11 Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against YHWH: and Aaron, what is he that you murmur against him?”
12 Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said, “We won’t come up:
13 is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us?
14 Moreover you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: will you put out the eyes of these men? We won’t come up.”
15 Moses was very angry, and said to YHWH, “Don’t respect their offering: I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.”
16 Moses said to Korah, “You and all your company go before YHWH, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow:
17 and each man take his censer, and put incense on them, and each man bring before YHWH his censer, two hundred fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each his censer.”
18 They each took his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood at the door of the Tent of Meeting with Moses and Aaron.
19 Korah assembled all the congregation against them to the door of the Tent of Meeting: and the glory of YHWH appeared to all the congregation.
20 YHWH spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
21 “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!”
22 They fell on their faces, and said, “ELOHIM, the ELOHIM of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?”
23 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
24 “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from around the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram!’”
25 Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26 He spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins!”
27 So they went away from the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little ones.
28 Moses said, “Hereby you shall know that YHWH has sent me to do all these works; for they are not from my own mind.
29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then YHWH hasn’t sent me.
30 But if YHWH make a new thing, and the ground open its mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down alive into Sheol; then you shall understand that these men have despised YHWH!”
31 It happened, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground split apart that was under them;
32 and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men who appertained to Korah, and all their goods.
33 So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into Sheol: and the earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.
34 All Israel that were around them fled at their cry; for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up!”
35 Fire came forth from YHWH, and devoured the two hundred fifty men who offered the incense.
36 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
37 “Speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter the fire yonder; for they are holy,
38 even the censers of these sinners against their own lives; and let them be made beaten plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before YHWH; therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”
39 Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were burnt had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar,
40 to be a memorial to the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger, who isn’t of the seed of Aaron, comes near to burn incense before YHWH; that he not be as Korah, and as his company: as YHWH spoke to him by Moses.

41
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Complaints of the People. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed YHWH’s people!”
42 It happened, when the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the Tent of Meeting: and behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of YHWH appeared.
43 Moses and Aaron came to the front of the Tent of Meeting.
44 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
45 “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!” They fell on their faces.
46 Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, and put fire from off the altar in it, and lay incense on it, and carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from YHWH! The plague has begun.”
47 Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and behold, the plague has begun among the people: and he put on the incense, and made atonement for the people.
48 He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49 Now those who died by the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides those who died about the matter of Korah.
50 Aaron returned to Moses to the door of the Tent of Meeting: and the plague was stayed.

Monday - Day 2 before Shabbat -  Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

Numbers 17.

Korach (continued):

Numbers 17.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Budding of Aaron's Rod. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods: write every man’s name on his rod.
3 You shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi; for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.
4 You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.
5 It shall happen, that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.”
6 Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7 Moses laid up the rods before YHWH in the tent of the testimony.
8 It happened on the next day, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.
9 Moses brought out all the rods from before YHWH to all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
10 YHWH said to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their murmurings against me, that they not die.”
11 Moses did so. As YHWH commanded him, so he did.
12 The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “Behold, we perish! We are undone! We are all undone!
13 Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tabernacle of YHWH, dies! Will we all perish?”

Tuesday - Day 3 before Shabbat -  Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

Numbers 18:1-32.

Korach (continued):

Numbers 18:1-32.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Duties of Priests and Levites. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

YHWH said to Aaron, “You and your sons and your fathers’ house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
2 Your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring near with you, that they may be joined to you, and minister to you: but you and your sons with you shall be before the tent of the testimony.
3 They shall keep your commands, and the duty of all the Tent: only they shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary and to the altar, that they not die, neither they, nor you.
4 They shall be joined to you, and keep the responsibility of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent: and a stranger shall not come near to you.
5 “You shall perform the duty of the sanctuary, and the duty of the altar; that there be wrath no more on the children of Israel.
6 I, behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are a gift, given to YHWH, to do the service of the Tent of Meeting.
7 You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and you shall serve: I give you the priesthood as a service of gift: and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.”

8
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Offerings for Support of the Priests. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

YHWH spoke to Aaron, “I, behold, I have given you the command of my wave offerings, even all the holy things of the children of Israel; to you have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to your sons, as a portion forever.
9 This shall be yours of the most holy things from the fire: every offering of theirs, even every meal offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons.
10 You shall eat of it like the most holy things. Every male shall eat of it. It shall be holy to you.
11 “This is yours, too: the wave offering of their gift, even all the wave offerings of the children of Israel. I have given them to you, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, as a portion forever. Everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it.
12 “All the best of the oil, and all the best of the vintage, and of the grain, the first fruits of them which they give to YHWH, to you have I given them.
13 The first-ripe fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring to YHWH, shall be yours; everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it.
14 “Everything devoted in Israel shall be yours.
15 Everything that opens the womb, of all flesh which they offer to YHWH, both of man and animal shall be yours: nevertheless you shall surely redeem the firstborn of man, and you shall redeem the firstborn of unclean animals.
16 You shall redeem those who are to be redeemed of them from a month old, according to your estimation, for five shekels of money, after the shekel of the sanctuary (the same is twenty gerahs).
17 “But you shall not redeem the firstborn of a cow, or the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat. They are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and shall burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma to YHWH!
18 Their flesh shall be yours, as the wave offering breast and as the right thigh, it shall be yours.
19 All the wave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to YHWH, have I given you, and your sons and your daughters with you, as a portion forever: it is a covenant of salt forever before YHWH to you and to your seed with you.”
20 YHWH said to Aaron, “You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.

21
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Tithes for Support of the Levites. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

“To the children of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service which they serve, even the service of the Tent of Meeting.
22 Henceforth the children of Israel shall not come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin, and die.
23 But the Levites shall do the service of the Tent of Meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations; and among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
24 For the tithe of the children of Israel, which they offer as a wave offering to YHWH, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance: therefore I have said to them, ‘Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.’”

25
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Tithe of the Levites. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
26 “Moreover you shall speak to the Levites, and tell them, ‘When you take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a wave offering of it for YHWH, a tithe of the tithe.
27 Your wave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.
28 Thus you also shall offer a wave offering to YHWH of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and of it you shall give YHWH’s wave offering to Aaron the priest.
29 Out of all your gifts you shall offer every wave offering of YHWH, of all its best, even the holy part of it out of it.’
30 “Therefore you shall tell them, ‘When you heave its best from it, then it shall be reckoned to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress.
31 You shall eat it in every place, you and your households: for it is your reward in return for your service in the Tent of Meeting.
32 You shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it its best: and you shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, that you not die.’”

Wednesday - Day 4 before Shabbat -  Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

Hebrews 1.

Korach (continued):

Hebrews 1.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. ELOHIM's Supreme Revelation. .                        The Letter to the Hebrews! \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

ELOHIM, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
2 has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.
3 His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 having become so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they have.

5
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Song of Solomon Exalted Above Angels. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

For to which of the angels did he say at any time,   “You are my Son.  Today have I become your father?” and again,   “I will be to him a Father,  and he will be to me a Son?”
6 Again, when he brings in the firstborn into the world he says, “Let all the angels of ELOHIM worship him.”
7 Of the angels he says,  “Who makes his angels winds,  and his servants a flame of fire.”
8 But of the Son he says,  “Your throne, O ELOHIM, is forever and ever.  The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;  therefore ELOHIM, your ELOHIM, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”
10 And,  “You, ADONAI, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth.  The heavens are the works of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you continue.  They all will grow old like a garment does.
12 As a mantle, you will roll them up,  and they will be changed;  but you are the same.  Your years will not fail.”
13 But which of the angels has he told at any time,  “Sit at my right hand,  until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?”
14 Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

Thursday - Day 5 before Shabbat -  Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

1 Samuel 11:14-15,  12:1-22

Korach (continued):

1 Samuel 11:14-15.

14 Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.”
15 All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before YHWH in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before YHWH; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

1 Samuel 12:1-22.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Samuel's Address at Saul's Coronation. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\

Samuel said to all Israel, “Behold, I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you.
2 Now, behold, the king walks before you; and I am old and gray-headed; and behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my youth to this day.
3 Here I am. Witness against me before YHWH, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Of whose hand have I taken a ransom to blind my eyes therewith? I will restore it to you.”
4 They said, “You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything of any man’s hand.”
5 He said to them, “YHWH is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand.” They said, “He is witness.”
6 Samuel said to the people, “It is YHWH who appointed Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.
7 Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before YHWH concerning all the righteous acts of YHWH, which he did to you and to your fathers.
8 “When Jacob had come into Egypt, and your fathers cried to YHWH, then YHWH sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of Egypt, and made them to dwell in this place.
9 “But they forgot YHWH their ELOHIM; and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the army of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab; and they fought against them.
10 They cried to YHWH, and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have forsaken YHWH, and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.’
11 YHWH sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you lived in safety.
12 “When you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me, ‘No, but a king shall reign over us;’ when YHWH your ELOHIM was your king.
13 Now therefore see the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have asked for: and behold, YHWH has set a king over you.
14 If you will fear YHWH, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of YHWH, then both you and also the king who reigns over you are followers of YHWH your ELOHIM!
15 But if you will not listen to the voice of YHWH, but rebel against the commandment of YHWH, then will the hand of YHWH be against you, as it was against your fathers.
16 “Now therefore stand still and see this great thing, which YHWH will do before your eyes.
17 Isn’t it wheat harvest today? I will call to YHWH, that he may send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of YHWH, in asking for a king.”
18 So Samuel called to YHWH; and YHWH sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared YHWH and Samuel.
19 All the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to YHWH your ELOHIM, that we not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.”
20 Samuel said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. You have indeed done all this evil; yet don’t turn aside from following YHWH, but serve YHWH with all your heart.
21 Don’t turn aside to go after vain things which can’t profit nor deliver, for they are vain.
22 For YHWH will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased YHWH to make you a people to himself.

Friday - Day 6 before Shabbat -  Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

Hebrews 2.

Korach (continued):

Hebrews 2.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Do Not Neglect Salvation . .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.
2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense;
3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation which at the first having been spoken through ADONAI, was confirmed to us by those who heard;
4 ELOHIM also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

5
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Song of Solomon Made Lower than Angels. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

For he didn’t subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.
6 But one has somewhere testified, saying,  “What is man, that you think of him?  Or the son of man, that you care for him?
7 You made him a little lower than the angels.  You crowned him with glory and honor.
8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don’t see all things subjected to him, yet.
9 But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, YESHUA, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of ELOHIM he should taste of death for everyone.

10
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Bringing Many Sons to Glory. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12 saying,  “I will declare your name to my brothers.  In the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”
13 Again, “I will put my trust in him.” Again, “Behold, here I am with the children whom ELOHIM has given me.”
14 Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in the same way partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For most certainly, he doesn’t give help to angels, but he gives help to the seed of Abraham.
17 Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to ELOHIM, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

Saturday - Shabbat - Parasha Korach - To Remove One's Covering.

Hebrews 3.

Korach (continued):

Hebrews 3.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Song of Solomon Was Faithful. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Emissary and High Priest of our confession, YESHUA;
2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house.
3 For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who built the house has more honor than the house.
4 For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is ELOHIM!
5 Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken,
6 but Messiah is faithful as a Son over his house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our hope firm to the end.

7
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Be Faithful. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says,   “Today if you will hear his voice,
8 don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,  like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,
9 where your fathers tested me by proving me,  and saw my works for forty years.
10 Therefore I was displeased with that generation,  and said, ‘They always err in their heart,  but they didn’t know my ways;’
11 as I swore in my wrath,  ‘They will not enter into my rest.’”
12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living ELOHIM;
13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today;” lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we have become partakers of Messiah, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end:
15 while it is said,  “Today if you will hear his voice,  don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.”

16
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers . .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

For who, when they heard, rebelled? No, didn’t all those who came out of Egypt by Moses?
17 With whom was he displeased forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
18 To whom did he swear that they wouldn’t enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
19 We see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.
