Sunday - Day 1 before Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Deuteronomy 29:10-to-end.  (JPS=Deuteronomy 29:9-28).

Deuteronomy 29:10-to-end.  (JPS=Deuteronomy 29:9-28).

10 You stand this day all of you before YHWH your ELOHIM; your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,
11 your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water;
12 that you may enter into the covenant of YHWH your ELOHIM, and into his oath, which YHWH your ELOHIM makes with you this day;
13 that he may establish you this day to himself for a people, and that he may be to you an ELOHIM, as he spoke to you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath,
15 but with him who stands here with us this day before YHWH our ELOHIM, and also with him who is not here with us this day
16 (for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed;
17 and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them);
18 lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from YHWH our ELOHIM, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;
19 and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.”
20 YHWH will not pardon him, but then the anger of YHWH and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie on him, and YHWH will blot out his name from under the sky.
21 YHWH will set him apart to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this scroll of the Torah.
22 The generation to come, your children who shall rise up after you, and the foreigner who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which YHWH has made it sick;
23 and that the whole land of it is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which YHWH overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
24 even all the nations shall say, “Why has YHWH done thus to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”
25 Then men shall say, “Because they forsook the covenant of YHWH, the ELOHIM of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
26 and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they didn’t know, and that he had not given to them:
27 therefore the anger of YHWH was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curse that is written in this book;
28 and YHWH rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.”
29 The secret things belong to YHWH our ELOHIM; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this Torah (teaching and instruction).

Monday - Day 2 before Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Deuteronomy 30.

Deuteronomy 30.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Blessing of Returning to ELOHIM. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

It shall happen, when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, where YHWH your ELOHIM has driven you,
2 and shall return to YHWH your ELOHIM, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul;
3 that then YHWH your ELOHIM will turn your captivity, and have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples, where YHWH your ELOHIM has scattered you.
4 If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of the heavens, from there will YHWH your ELOHIM gather you, and from there he will bring you back:
5 and YHWH your ELOHIM will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and he will do you good, and multiply you above your fathers.
6 YHWH your ELOHIM will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love YHWH your ELOHIM with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.
7 YHWH your ELOHIM will put all these curses on your enemies, and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
8 You shall return and obey the voice of YHWH, and do all his commandments which I command you this day.
9 YHWH your ELOHIM will make you plenteous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, for good: for YHWH will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers;
10 if you shall obey the voice of YHWH your ELOHIM, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this scroll of the Torah; if you turn to YHWH your ELOHIM with all your heart, and with all your soul.

11
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Choice of Life or Death. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

For this commandment which I command you this day, it is not too hard for you, neither is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?”
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?”
14 But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it.
15 Behold, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil;
16 in that I command you this day to love YHWH your ELOHIM, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that YHWH your ELOHIM may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.
17 But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18 I denounce to you this day, that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land, where you pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it.
19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed;
20 to love YHWH your ELOHIM, to obey his voice, and to cling to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which YHWH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Tuesday - Day 3 before Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Revelation 5.

Revelation 5.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Lamb Takes the Scroll. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

I saw, in the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals.
2 I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?”
3 No one in heaven above, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look in it.
4 And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look in it.
5 One of the elders said to me, “Don’t weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome; he who opens the book and its seven seals.”
6 I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of ELOHIM, sent out into all the earth.
7 Then he came, and he took it out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne.

8
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Worthy Is the Lamb. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones.
9 They sang a new song, saying,  “You are worthy to take the book,  and to open its seals:  for you were killed,  and bought us for ELOHIM with your blood,  out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,
10 and made us kings and priests to our ELOHIM,  and we will reign on earth.”
11 I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands;
12 saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!”
13 I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!”
14 The four living creatures said, “Amen!” The elders fell down and worshiped.

Wednesday - Day 4 before Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Revelation 6.

Revelation 6.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. First Seal: The Conqueror. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”
2 And behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came forth conquering, and to conquer.

3
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Second Seal: Conflict on Earth. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”
4 Another came forth, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.

5
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Third Seal: Scarcity on Earth. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.
6 I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”

7
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Fourth Seal: Widespread Death on Earth. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!”
8 And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it, his name was Death. Sheol followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.

9
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Fifth Seal: The Cry of the Martyrs. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of ELOHIM, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.
10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
11 A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.

12
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Sixth Seal: Cosmic Disturbances. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.
13 The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.
14 The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
16 They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
17 for the great day of his wrath has come; and who is able to stand?”

Thursday - Day 5 before Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Isaiah 61:10-to-end,  Revelation 7.

             Haftarah:

Isaiah 61:10-to-end.

10 I will greatly rejoice in YHWH, my soul shall be joyful in my ELOHIM; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth brings forth its bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so ADONAI YHWH will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Revelation 7.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Sealed of Israel. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth, or on the sea, or on any tree.
2 I saw another angel ascend from the sunrise, having the seal of the living ELOHIM! He cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea,
3 saying, “Don’t harm the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, until we have sealed the bondservants of our ELOHIM on their foreheads!”
4 I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the children of Israel:
5 of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand,
6 of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand,
7 of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand,
8 of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand,  of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

9
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. A Multitude from the Great Tribulation. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.
10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation be to our ELOHIM, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
11 All the angels were standing around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before his throne, and worshiped ELOHIM,
12 saying, “Amen! Blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might, be to our ELOHIM forever and ever! Amen.”
13 One of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are arrayed in white robes, who are they, and from where did they come?”
14 I told him, “My master, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood.
15 Therefore they are before the throne of ELOHIM, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them.
16 They will never be hungry, neither thirsty any more; neither will the sun beat on them, nor any heat;
17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shepherds them, and leads them to springs of waters of life. And ELOHIM will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Friday - Day 6 before Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Isaiah 62,  Revelation 8.

Haftarah (continued):

Isaiah 62.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Assurance of Zion's Salvation. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns.
2 The nations shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of YHWH shall name.
3 You shall also be a crown of beauty in the hand of YHWH, and a royal diadem in the hand of your ELOHIM!
4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate: but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for YHWH delights in you, and your land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so your sons shall marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your ELOHIM will rejoice over you.
6 I have set watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night: you who call on YHWH, take no rest,
7 and give him no rest, until he establishes, and until he makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
8 YHWH has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength,  “Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies; and foreigners shall not drink your new wine, for which you have labored:
9 but those who have garnered it shall eat it, and praise YHWH; and those who have gathered it shall drink it in the courts of my sanctuary.”
10 Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way of the people! Cast up, cast up the highway! Gather out the stones! Lift up a banner for the peoples.
11 Behold, YHWH has proclaimed to the end of the earth,  “Say to the daughter of Zion,  ‘Behold, your salvation comes.  Behold, his reward is with him,  and his recompense before him.’”
12 They shall call them The holy people, The redeemed of YHWH: and you shall be called Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Revelation 8            .

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Seventh Seal: Prelude to the Seven Trumpets. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2 I saw the seven angels who stand before ELOHIM, and seven shofars were given to them.
3 Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him, that he should add it to the prayers of all the holy ones on the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the holy ones, went up before ELOHIM out of the angel’s hand.
5 The angel took the censer, and he filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it on the earth. There followed thunders, sounds, lightnings, and an earthquake.
6 The seven angels who had the seven shofars prepared themselves to sound.

7
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. First Trumpet: Vegetation Struck. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The first sounded, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. One third of the earth was burnt up, and one third of the trees were burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

8
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Second Trumpet: The Seas Struck. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The second angel sounded, and something like a great burning mountain was thrown into the sea. One third of the sea became blood,
9 and one third of the living creatures which were in the sea died. One third of the ships were destroyed.

10
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Third Trumpet: The Waters Struck. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of the waters.
11 The name of the star is called “Wormwood.” One third of the waters became wormwood. Many people died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

12
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Fourth Trumpet: The Heavens Struck. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The fourth angel sounded, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars; so that one third of them would be darkened, and the day wouldn’t shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way.
13 I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe! Woe! Woe for those who dwell on the earth, because of the other voices of the shofars of the three angels, who are yet to sound!”

Saturday - Shabbat - Parasha Nitzavim - You Are Standing.

Isaiah 63:1-9,  Revelation 9.

Haftarah (continued):

Isaiah 63:1-9.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. YHWH in Judgment and Salvation. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength?  “It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”
2 Why are you red in your clothing, and your garments like him who treads in the wine vat?
3 “I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yes, I trod them in my anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.
4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come.
5 I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore my own arm brought salvation to me; and my wrath, it upheld me.
6 I trod down the peoples in my anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

7
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. ELOHIM's Mercy Remembered. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

I will make mention of the loving kindnesses of YHWH and the praises of YHWH, according to all that YHWH has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.
8 For he said, “Surely, they are my people, children who will not deal falsely:” so he was their Savior.
9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

Revelation 9.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Fifth Trumpet: The Locusts from the Bottomless Pit. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him.
2 He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit.
3 Then out of the smoke came forth locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who don’t have ELOHIM’s seal on their foreheads.
5 They were given power not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a person.
6 In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
7 The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people’s faces.
8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like those of lions.
9 They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war.
10 They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months.
11 They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is “Abaddon,” but in Greek, he has the name “Apollyon.”
12 The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this.

13
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Sixth Trumpet: The Angels from the Euphrates. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar which is before ELOHIM,
14 saying to the sixth angel who had one shofar, “Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!”
15 The four angels were freed who had been prepared for that hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of mankind.
16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million. I heard the number of them.
17 Thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of lions. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur.
18 By these three plagues were one third of mankind killed: by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths.
19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they harm.
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, didn’t repent of the works of their hands, that they wouldn’t worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood; which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.
21 They didn’t repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts.
