Exodus 1.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Israel's Suffering in Egypt. .                      Exodus! \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt (every man and his household came with Jacob):
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
4 Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
5 All the souls who came out of Jacob’s body were seventy souls, and Joseph was in Egypt already.
6 Joseph died, as did all his brothers, and all that generation.
7 The children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who didn’t know Joseph.
9 He said to his people, “Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we.
10 Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies, and fight against us, and escape out of the land.”
11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out. They were grieved because of the children of Israel.
13 The Egyptians ruthlessly made the children of Israel serve,
14 and they made their lives
_ bitter with hard service, in mortar and in brick, and in all kinds of service in the field, all their service, in which they ruthlessly made them serve.
15 The king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah,
16 and he said, “When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool; if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”
17 But the midwives feared ELOHIM, and didn’t do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the baby boys alive.
18 The king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and have saved the boys alive?”
19 The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous, and give birth before the midwife comes to them.”
20 ELOHIM dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and grew very mighty.
21 It happened, because the midwives feared ELOHIM, that he gave them families.
22 Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “You shall cast every son who is born into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”

Exodus 2.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Moses Is Born. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

A man of the house of Levi went and took a daughter of Levi as his wife.
2 The woman conceived, and bore a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months.
3 When she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar and with pitch. She put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.
4 His sister stood far off, to see what would be done to him.
5 Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it.
6 She opened it, and saw the child, and behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”
7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”
8 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” The maiden went and called the child’s mother.
9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” The woman took the child, and nursed it.
10 The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

11
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Moses Flees to Midian. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

It happened in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brothers, and looked at their burdens. He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.
12 He looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no one, he killed the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
13 He went out the second day, and behold, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, “Why do you strike your fellow?”
14 He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”
15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and lived in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. They came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17 The shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 When they came to Reuel, their father, he said, “How is it that you have returned so early today?”
19 They said, “An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock.”
20 He said to his daughters, “Where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”
21 Moses was content
_ to dwell with the man. He gave Moses Zipporah, his daughter.
22 She bore a son, and he named him Gershom, for he said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land.”
23 It happened in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to ELOHIM because of the bondage.
24 ELOHIM heard their groaning, and ELOHIM remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 ELOHIM saw the children of Israel, and ELOHIM was concerned about them.

Exodus 3.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Moses at the Burning Bush. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to ELOHIM’s mountain, to Horeb.
2 The angel of YHWH appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 Moses said, “I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.”
4 When YHWH saw that he turned aside to see, ELOHIM called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!” He said, “Here I am.”
5 He said, “Don’t come close. Take your sandals off of your feet, for the place you are standing on is holy ground.”
6 Moreover he said, “I am the ELOHIM of your father, the ELOHIM of Abraham, the ELOHIM of Isaac, and the ELOHIM of Jacob.” Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look at ELOHIM!
7 YHWH said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8 I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
9 Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
11 Moses said to ELOHIM, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
12 He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve ELOHIM on this mountain.”
13 Moses said to ELOHIM, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The ELOHIM of your fathers has sent me to you;’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?”
14 ELOHIM said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
15 ELOHIM said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘YHWH, the ELOHIM of your fathers, the ELOHIM of Abraham, the ELOHIM of Isaac, and the ELOHIM of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.
16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, ‘YHWH, the ELOHIM of your fathers, the ELOHIM of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt;
17 and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’
18 They will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him, ‘YHWH, the ELOHIM of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to YHWH, our ELOHIM!’
19 I know that the king of Egypt won’t give you permission to go, no, not by a mighty hand.
20 I will reach out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in its midst, and after that he will let you go.
21 I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and it will happen that when you go, you shall not go empty-handed.
22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her who visits her house, jewels of silver, jewels of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons, and on your daughters. You shall plunder the Egyptians.”

Acts 5.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Lying to the Holy Spirit. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But a certain man named Hananiah, with Shappirah, his wife, sold a possession,
2 and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the emissaries’ feet.
3 But Peter said, “Hananiah, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 While you kept it, didn’t it remain your own? After it was sold, wasn’t it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to ELOHIM!”
5 Hananiah, hearing these words, fell down and died. Great fear came on all who heard these things.
6 The young men arose and wrapped him up, and they carried him out and buried him.
7 About three hours later, his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
8 Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
9 But Peter asked her, “How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of ADONAI? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
10 She fell down immediately at his feet, and died. The young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.
11 Great fear came on the whole assembly, and on all who heard these things.

12
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Continuing Power in the Assembly. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

By the hands of the emissaries many signs and wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
13 None of the rest dared to join them, however the people honored them.
14 More believers were added to ADONAI, multitudes of both men and women.
15 They even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mattresses, so that as Peter came by, at the least his shadow might overshadow some of them.
16 Multitudes also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people, and those who were tormented by unclean spirits: and they were all healed.

17
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Imprisoned Apostles Freed. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy,
18 and laid hands on the emissaries, and put them in public custody.
19 But an angel of ADONAI opened the prison doors by night, and brought them out, and said,
20 “Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”
21 When they heard this, they entered into the temple about daybreak, and taught. But the high priest came, and those who were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

22
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Apostles on Trial Again. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But the officers who came didn’t find them in the prison. They returned and reported,
23 “We found the prison shut and locked, and the guards standing before the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside!”
24 Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these words, they were very perplexed about them and what might become of this.
25 One came and told them, “Behold, the men whom you put in prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.”
26 Then the captain went with the officers, and brought them without violence, for they were afraid that the people might stone them.
27 When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,
28 saying, “Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”
29 But Peter and the emissaries answered, “We must obey ELOHIM rather than men.
30 The ELOHIM of our fathers raised up YESHUA, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.
31 ELOHIM exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.
32 We are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom ELOHIM has given to those who obey him.”

33
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Gamaliel's Advice. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and determined to kill them.
34 But one stood up in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Torah, honored by all the people, and commanded to put the emissaries out for a little while.
35 He said to them, “You men of Israel, be careful concerning these men, what you are about to do.
36 For before these days Todah rose up, making himself out to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed, and came to nothing.
37 After this man, Judah of Galilee rose up in the days of the enrollment, and drew away some people after him. He also perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.
38 Now I tell you, withdraw from these men, and leave them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of men, it will be overthrown.
39 But if it is of ELOHIM, you will not be able to overthrow it, and you would be found even to be fighting against ELOHIM!”
40 They agreed with him. Summoning the emissaries, they beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of YESHUA, and let them go.
41 They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for YESHUA’s name.
42 Every day, in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming YESHUA, the Messiah.

Exodus 4.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Miraculous Signs for Pharaoh. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘YHWH has not appeared to you.’”
2 YHWH said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”
3 He said, “Throw it on the ground.” He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it.
4 YHWH said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand, and take it by the tail.” He stretched out his hand, and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand.
5 “That they may believe that YHWH, the ELOHIM of their fathers, the ELOHIM of Abraham, the ELOHIM of Isaac, and the ELOHIM of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
6 YHWH said furthermore to him, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.
7 He said, “Put your hand inside your cloak again.” He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh.
8 “It will happen, if they will neither believe you nor listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9 It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.”
10 Moses said to YHWH, “O ADONAI, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”
11 YHWH said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, YHWH?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.”
13 He said, “Oh, ADONAI, please send someone else.”
14 The anger of YHWH was kindled against Moses, and he said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he comes out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
15 You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.
16 He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as ELOHIM!
17 You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”

18
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Moses Goes to Egypt. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, “Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
19 YHWH said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead.”
20 Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took ELOHIM’s rod in his hand.
21 YHWH said to Moses, “When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.
22 You shall tell Pharaoh, ‘Thus says YHWH, Israel is my son, my firstborn,
23 and I have said to you, “Let my son go, that he may serve me;” and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.’”
24 It happened on the way at a lodging place, that YHWH met Moses and wanted to kill him.
25 Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.”
26 So he let him alone. Then she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.
27 YHWH said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” He went, and met him on ELOHIM’s mountain, and kissed him.
28 Moses told Aaron all the words of YHWH with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.
29 Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.
30 Aaron spoke all the words which YHWH had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31 The people believed, and when they heard that YHWH had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

Acts 6.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Seven Chosen to Serve. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily service.
2 The twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of ELOHIM and serve tables.
3 Therefore select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word.”
5 These words pleased the whole multitude. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch;
6 whom they set before the emissaries. When they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 The word of ELOHIM increased and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly. A great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

8
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Stephen Accused of Blasphemy. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Stephen, full of faith and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.
9 But some of those who were of the synagogue called “The Libertines,” and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.
10 They weren’t able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.
11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and ELOHIM!”
12 They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, and brought him in to the council,
13 and set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Torah.
14 For we have heard him say that this YESHUA of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”
15 All who sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.

Wednesday - 22-Dec-2010; (15-Tevet-5771). Day 4 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemot - The Names.

Exodus 5.,6:1-1.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. First Encounter with Pharaoh. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, “This is what YHWH, the ELOHIM of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”
2 Pharaoh said, “Who is YHWH, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know YHWH, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”
3 They said, “The ELOHIM of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to YHWH, our ELOHIM, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”
4 The king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”
5 Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”
6 The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7 “You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8 The number of the bricks, which they made before, you require from them. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our ELOHIM!’
9 Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor therein; and don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”
10 The taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you straw.
11 Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.’”
12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
13 The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”
14 The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, “Why haven’t you fulfilled your quota both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?”
15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants?
16 No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”
17 But he said, “You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to YHWH!’
18 Go therefore now, and work, for no straw shall be given to you, yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”
19 The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble, when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”
20 They met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came out from Pharaoh:
21 and they said to them, “May YHWH look at you, and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us.”

22
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Israel's Deliverance Assured. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Moses returned to YHWH, and said, “ADONAI, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?
23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people; neither have you delivered your people at all.”

1 YHWH said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh, for by a strong hand he shall let them go, and by a strong hand he shall drive them out of his land.”

Acts 7.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Stephen's Address_: The Call of Abraham. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The high priest said, “Are these things so?”
2 He said, “Brothers and fathers, listen. The ELOHIM of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,
3 and said to him, ‘Get out of your land, and from your relatives, and come into a land which I will show you.’
4 Then he came out of the land of the Kasdim, and lived in Haran. From there, when his father was dead, ELOHIM moved him into this land, where you are now living.
5 He gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on. He promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when he still had no child.
6 ELOHIM spoke in this way: that his seed would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.
7 ‘I will judge the nation to which they will be in bondage,’ said ELOHIM, ‘and after that will they come out, and serve me in this place.’
8 He gave him the covenant of circumcision. So Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

9
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Patriarchs in Egypt. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

“The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. ELOHIM was with him,
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Now a famine came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction. Our fathers found no food.
12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers the first time.
13 On the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s race was revealed to Pharaoh.
14 Joseph sent, and summoned Jacob, his father, and all his relatives, seventy-five souls.
15 Jacob went down into Egypt, and he died, himself and our fathers,
16 and they were brought back to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver from the children of Hamor of Shechem.

\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. ELOHIM Delivers Israel by Moses. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

“But as the time of the promise came close which ELOHIM had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 until there arose a different king, who didn’t know Joseph.
19 The same took advantage of our race, and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to throw out their babies, so that they wouldn’t stay alive.
20 At that time Moses was born, and was exceedingly handsome. He was nourished three months in his father’s house.
21 When he was thrown out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him up, and reared him as her own son.
22 Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. He was mighty in his words and works.
23 But when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.
24 Seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him who was oppressed, striking the Egyptian.
25 He supposed that his brothers understood that ELOHIM, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they didn’t understand.
26 “The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, ‘Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?’
27 But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?
28 Do you want to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’
29 Moses fled at this saying, and became a stranger in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.
30 “When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of ADONAI appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight. As he came close to see, a voice of ADONAI came to him,
32 ‘I am the ELOHIM of your fathers, the ELOHIM of Abraham, the ELOHIM of Isaac, and the ELOHIM of Jacob.’ Moses trembled, and dared not look.
33 ADONAI said to him, ‘Take your sandals off of your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.
34 I have surely seen the affliction of my people that is in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.’
35 “This Moses, whom they refused, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ ELOHIM has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
36 This man led them out, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

37
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Israel Rebels_ Against ELOHIM. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

This is that Moses, who said to the children of Israel, ‘ADONAI our ELOHIM will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.’
38 This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living oracles to give to us,
39 to whom our fathers wouldn’t be obedient, but rejected him, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,
40 saying to Aaron, ‘Make us idol_gods that will go before us, for as for this Moses, who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’
41 They made a calf in those days, and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.
42 But ELOHIM turned, and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets,  ‘Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices  forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
43 You took up the tabernacle of Moloch,  the star of your idol_god Rephan,  the figures which you made to worship.  I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’

44
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. ELOHIM's True Tabernacle. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

“Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern that he had seen;
45 which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered into the possession of the nations, whom ELOHIM drove out before the face of our fathers, to the days of David,
46 who found favor in the sight of ELOHIM, and asked to find a habitation for the ELOHIM of Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
48 However, the Most High doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,
49 ‘heaven is my throne,  and the earth a footstool for my feet.  What kind of house will you build me?’ says ADONAI;  ‘or what is the place of my rest?
50 Didn’t my hand make all these things?’

\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Israel Resists the Holy Spirit. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.
52 Which of the prophets didn’t your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.
53 You received the Torah as it was ordained by angels, and didn’t keep it!”

54
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Stephen the Martyr. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of ELOHIM, and YESHUA standing on the right hand of ELOHIM,
56 and said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of ELOHIM!”
57 But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed at him with one accord.
58 They threw him out of the city, and stoned him. The witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 They stoned Stephen as he called out, saying, “ADONAI YESHUA, receive my spirit!”
60 He kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, “ADONAI, don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Thursday - 23-Dec-2010; (16-Tevet-5771). Day 5 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemot - The Names.

Haftarah:

Jeremiah 1.

1                      \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\.Jeremiah! \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
2 to whom the word of YHWH came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

4
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Prophet Is Called. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now the word of YHWH came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you. Before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then I said, “Ah, ADONAI YHWH! Behold, I don’t know how to speak; for I am a child.”
7 But YHWH said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I am a child;’ for to whoever I shall send you, you shall go, and whatever I shall command you, you shall speak.
8 Don’t be afraid because of them; for I am with you to deliver you,” says YHWH!
9 Then YHWH put forth his hand, and touched my mouth; and YHWH said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
10 Behold, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”
11 Moreover the word of YHWH came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”
12 Then YHWH said to me, “You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it.”
13 The word of YHWH came to me the second time, saying, “What do you see?” I said, “I see a boiling caldron; and it is tipping away from the north.”
14 Then YHWH said to me, “Out of the north evil will break out on all the inhabitants of the land.
15 For, behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says YHWH; “and they shall come, and they shall each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Judah.
16 I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other idol_gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.
17 “You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and speak to them all that I command you. Don’t be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.
18 For, behold, I have made you this day a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.
19 They will fight against you; but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you,” says YHWH, “to deliver you.”

Jeremiah 2:1-3.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. ELOHIM's Case Against Israel. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

The word of YHWH came to me, saying,
2 “Go, and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says YHWH, “I remember for you the kindness of your youth, the love of your weddings; how you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
3 Israel was holiness to YHWH, the first fruits of his increase
_. All who devour him shall be held guilty. Evil shall come on them,”’ says YHWH!”

Friday - 24-Dec-2010; (17-Tevet-5771). Day 6 before Shabbat - Parasha Shemot - The Names.

Acts 8.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Saul Persecutes the Assembly. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the emissaries.
2 Devout men buried Stephen, and lamented greatly over him.
3 But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house, and dragged both men and women off to prison.

4
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Messiah Is Preached in Samaria. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Therefore those who were scattered abroad went around proclaiming the word.
5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Messiah.
6 The multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he did.
7 For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.
8 There was great joy in that city.

9
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Sorcerer's Profession of Faith. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city, and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,
10 to whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of ELOHIM!”
11 They listened to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.
12 But when they believed Philip proclaiming good news concerning the Kingdom of ELOHIM and the name of YESHUA the Messiah, they were immersed, both men and women.
13 Simon himself also believed. Being immersed, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.

14
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Sorcerer's Sin. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now when the emissaries who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of ELOHIM, they sent Peter and John to them,
15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;
16 for as yet he had fallen on none of them. They had only been immersed in the name of Messiah YESHUA!
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the emissaries’ hands, he offered them money,
19 saying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of ELOHIM with money!
21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before ELOHIM!
22 Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask ELOHIM if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”
24 Simon answered, “Pray for me to ADONAI, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”
25 They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of ADONAI, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Good News to many villages of the Samaritans.

26
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Messiah Is Preached to an Ethiopian. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But an angel of ADONAI spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert.”
27 He arose and went; and behold, there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship. (The Peshitta Aramaic word also means “faithful one” or “believer.”)
28 He was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.”
30 Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 He said, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this,  “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter.  As a lamb before his shearer is silent,  so he doesn’t open his mouth.
33 In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away.  Who will declare His generation?  For his life is taken from the earth.”
34 The eunuch answered Philip, “Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?”
35 Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him YESHUA!
36 As they went on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being immersed?”
37 (TR adds “Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ He answered, ‘I believe that Yeshua the Messiah is the Son of ELOHIM.’”)
38 He commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he immersed him.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of ADONAI caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.

Acts 9.

1 \Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Damascus Road: Saul Converted. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of ADONAI, went to the high priest,
2 and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 As he traveled, it happened that he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him.
4 He fell on the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
5 He said, “Who are you, ADONAI?” ADONAI said, “I am YESHUA, whom you are persecuting.
6 But rise up, and enter into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the sound, but seeing no one.
8 Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened, he saw no one. They led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
9 He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

10
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Ananias Immerses Saul. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Hananiah. ADONAI said to him in a vision, “Hananiah!” He said, “Behold, it’s me, ADONAI.”
11 ADONAI said to him, “Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judah for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus. For behold, he is praying,
12 and in a vision he has seen a man named Hananiah coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight.”
13 But Hananiah answered, “ADONAI, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he did to your holy ones at Jerusalem.
14 Here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”
15 But ADONAI said to him, “Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel.
16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”
17 Hananiah departed, and entered into the house. Laying his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, ADONAI, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me, that you may receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18 Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was immersed.
19 He took food and was strengthened. Saul stayed several days with the disciples who were at Damascus.

20
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Saul Preaches Messiah. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed the Messiah, that he is the Son of ELOHIM!
21 All who heard him were amazed, and said, “Isn’t this he who in Jerusalem made havoc of those who called on this name? And he had come here intending to bring them bound before the chief priests!”
22 But Saul increased more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived at Damascus, proving that this is the Messiah.

23
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Saul Escapes Death. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When many days were fulfilled, the Jews conspired together to kill him,
24 but their plot became known to Saul. They watched the gates both day and night that they might kill him,
25 but his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.

26
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Saul at Jerusalem. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

When Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the emissaries, and declared to them how he had seen ADONAI in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of YESHUA!
28 He was with them entering into Jerusalem,
29 proclaiming boldly in the name of ADONAI YESHUA! He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, but they were seeking to kill him.
30 When the brothers knew it, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.

31
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. The Assembly Prospers. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

So the assemblies throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, and were built up. They were multiplied, walking in the fear of ADONAI and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

32
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Aeneas Healed. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

It happened, as Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the holy ones who lived at Lydda.
33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, because he was paralyzed.
34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, YESHUA the Messiah heals you. Get up and make your bed!” Immediately he arose.
35 All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to ADONAI.

36
\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnestLOW”\. Dorcas Restored to Life. .\Vce=Speaker=“LeslieEarnest”\.

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tavita, which when translated, means Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.
37 It happened in those days that she fell sick, and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.
38 As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.
39 Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
40 Peter put them all out, and kneeled down and prayed. Turning to the body, he said, “Tavita, get up!” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 He gave her his hand, and raised her up. Calling the holy ones and widows, he presented her alive.
42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in ADONAI.
43 It happened, that he stayed many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.
